Boy, it's odd seeing everything else but what I'm typing on the screen in Korean. Well, in the first week or so, I've tried Korean food, I had Sushi for lunch today, and the first night I got into town, Mr. Park, who runs the school here, took me out for dinner, where i feasted on, among other things, roasted Silkworm larvae. Yeah. Eating things on purpose I might have merely swallowed by accident before. But it's a distinctly different experience, and there's a lot, even now, I could say about Korean culture, given the time, particularly with regard to education and child-rearing that make me just CRINGE. Information I have at this point supports the notion that Koreans as a group don't put much stock in the notion of Attention Defecit Hyperactivity Disorder, for whatever reason. once I get back, a lot more of this information will be in here, but at this point, the cars are small, size-12 shoes simply DO NOT exist, and, well, you try finding a rolling fish restaurant, complete with 250-gallon supply tank, and a fresh crab cookin on the steamer, OR a mover that "comes to you" with a boom platform that goes up 15 stories so you can just load the contents of your apartment into plastic totes, throw 'em on the platform, and send 'em down to the moving van waiting below. I kid you not. I still haven't even mastered Han-Gul yet, so knowing the Korean language as a whole is a distant dream. But every day I know more, and experience more, and if it ever warms up, BOY, am I gonna have some stories to tell!!!!
