As blunt signs of the times go, this one is pretty chilling. I went out to get the Sunday paper this morning, and one of the "supplements" was 8 full sections, 121 pages of foreclosures in the tri-county area. Given the situations I find myself in, most of them seem pretty damned trivial, looking at that. I have it damn good, relatively speaking. Which is not to say that things couldn't improve in my life, but this stands as clear evidence that things could indeed be worse. Sobering, is what it is. There could pretty much be no clearer indication that the America we have been used to, is gone for good. The larger point, of course, is what are we going to do about it now? Are the Republicans really to blame, as I have so long maintained? Or have we, as a country, been so intoxicated with frivolity for so long, that this hangover's just gonna be a bit*h? A little of all of the above, I think.
