Things that make you go "OOPS!"....... Almost a mournable moment, for someone who was even more of an Aston Martin aficionado than myself, but you notice I don't have pictures, either. By way of compensation, if anyone is interested in being so benevolent, I think one of these special-edition Aston Martin Nokia 8800 phones would be very cool......

James Bond Film Car Plunges Into Lake
ROME (AP) -- The car being used in the latest James Bond film plunged into a lake in northern Italy while being driven to the set.
Producers say the driver of the Aston Martin was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. They say James Bond's iconic car was being delivered to the filming unit in heavy rain on Saturday morning when it went off the road and plunged into Lake Garda.
Italian state TV has shown footage of the smashed, black car being hoisted out of the water.
"Quantum of Solace" is the newest film in the 007 series. It stars Daniel Craig and is due for release later this year.

In other news, I was mentioning earlier in the week to people that Ann Arbor Public Schools are probably the only place that I've been where, not only was a middle school student carrying a chess set in his backpack, he actually had someone to play against. And judging by the lack of visible bruises on the boy, I'd say he wasn't even running the risk of having the crap beaten out of him for doing so. There are districts I've been in where this wouldn't be the case, sad as that whole state of affairs could be. And, yes, frequently I'm told by my students that my classroom management techniques are perhaps a bit, hmmm, Marine-esque, shall we say. I've come back to schools and had students greet me with a "SIR! YES SIR!" But they also remember my name. Make what you will of it.

I would love to be a fly on the wall and see you in action in the classroom. I'm sure it's a sight to behold.

On the Marine note, one of my best friends is an ex-Marine (can you be an ex-Marine, really?) and teaches junior high math. He also teaches martial arts. I can see how both those skills would be useful in a junior high classroom, eh? ;-)
