I had also talked briefly in a previous post about a situation I didn't want to jinx by talking about it too much. Well, the resolution is this; I was offered the job, and turned it down. Now for the details. First, the job was for a Youth Conservation Corps Leader in a midwest national park, and yes, it would have been out of state. The guy I was talking to, after having made the initial offer, essentially told me a veteran, by virtue of being a veteran, had points on me, albeit it not many, in the overall standings. In this man's words, I bested the vet in the phone interview, but his being a veteran still gave him the edge. Overall, to me, it was really rather heartening; more glue added to the notion that my experience as a teacher, and working with children, teens and young adults has not been in vain. Logistically, it would have once again taken me into the wilds (literally, in this case,) of the working world. I gotta settle down. It's good to know that I'm not a complete worthless lump, I just kinda wish I could get it together; I'm certain I will, God knows I ain't done yet, but it's just one of those "Augh!" moments in a way, despite making sense in as many others. I also came across some other images of mine that I feared were hopelessly lost in the bowels of another computer. I managed to extricate them, so I thought I'd share a few. These are all prior to my having gone to Korea, thus pretty much pre-blog days period. Enjoy, anyway.
