RANDOM THOUGHTS
1) I don't recall Spring Break entailing time off for me all at once in years past; granted, it might have, and I just wasn't paying attention.....well, yeah, okay, that's very possible. Seems longer this year, though. Maybe it's the economy. Doesn't matter, we'll go with the economy, anyway.
2) In the wake of the latest GM recall, I'm kinda glad at this point that my Intrigue went out the way it did. Well, not glad, but the prospect of that particular problem is no longer on my shoulders.....I've been through one car having an engine fire. They're not fun. It also brings up the idea that the bankruptcy contest between GM and Chrysler might come down to who has to issue the fewest recalls in the coming year. Haven't I mentioned something about fixing problems before you move on to something new?! I'd swear I did.....
3) If Toyota takes over the automotive universe in the coming years, I hope they'll see fit to re-introduce the Trueno (a.k.a. the Corolla GT-S) from the mid-80s. Now, that was a sweet little ride.
4) I pray for, and to, a benevolent God, and to tell you the truth, mostly, He's come through. If I've only got as much to bit*h about as anyone else my age, in my position, I must be doin' something right. I guess the main thing I can pray for here is continued good fortune, and some amount of upgrade......
5) My oldest daughter seems to be my best indication lately that you should never assume that no one is watching you, or listening to you. They might not be in the position, or be of the inclination to help you out in every possible circumstance, but someone is always out there, believe me. "The Mouth that Roared" seems to have had frequent instances lately where her chutzpah got the best of her. Live and learn. I hope the repercussions (trust me, there have been repercussions,) don't get the best of her; maybe just lead her to tone it down, or have enough grace to know when not to try and get in the last word.
6) Speaking of which, I'm not really infused with any sort of natural grace myself, and I find myself in positions where I wish I would have learned more about it.
7) Regarding the Somali pirates recently taken down a peg by U.S. military might; yes, the advertising slogan did say that the Colt made every man six feet tall. Unfortunately, that still isn't tough enough when you're standing nose-to-navel with a U.S. Navy Seal.
8) Finally regarding the Portugese Water Dog that the Obamas got from Sen. Ted Kennedy......Mr. Obama, if you put water in the dog's bowl, and it turns and looks at you, as though you've done something wrong.........I wonder if there is such a thing as veterinary rehab?! Any way, if the dog sits motionless below the cabinet where the Absolut is kept, the problem is confirmed. Congratulations to the Obamas on their puppy, anyway.
