Here I sit, a little stunned at the moment, a few things having faded into the distance, namely the fact that my home computer unceremoniously ate the big one, other personal matters.....What has overtaken everything, is the prospect of teaching English as a Second Language in southeast Asia. Nothing is absolute at the moment, but genuinely, even the prospect puts a blush on the cheeks of my entire being. Its about doing something with meaning; and I'm sorry, but the teachers I talk to in this country inevitably lament about lack of funding, large class sizes, and kowtowing constantly to administration and teaching to test scores. The prospect of something like this excites me to no end, doomed as I figured I was to be a slave to whatever in this country was going to kill me, and it probably WOULD have been something auto-related. If the crap that was building in my lungs wasn't it, surely my fate would have been sealed by carpal tunnel or something else. Stay tuned.
I don't know what else to say at this point, I'm just so freakin jazzed about this. And I know people out there are going WHAT?! WHAT THE F&*(& DOES HE THINK HE'S DOING?! Well, I'll tell ya--trying to get to a real life, mostly, and the universe in America seems content to judge me by my past and watch me die slowly. That's just a load of crap. Hyper-conservativism, and poor drivers armed with SUVs have taken over America, and if you figure I'm kidding.....come to Detroit. God forbid we should ever have a new or unique idea in America that you couldn't eat or put on a t-shirt! You can probably guess at my political sentiments, I don't need to spell them out, and I'm not about to! The big-picture truth is, I'm different, and almost no one I come into contact with seems to see the full scope of that. There have been genuine originals in history, and I'm not about to say any of them could do their thing without any inspiration whatsoever, but rampant me-too-ism just doesn't play with me.
Anyway, stay tuned......
