Another red-letter day on the teacher trail; the first long-term assignment. Only a week, mind you, while a school in Dearborn deals with its ELPA (English Language Proficiency Assessment,) but I was in on it, as much as I could have been, not being a certified teacher. There was also the issue today of a room full of third-graders in the computer room I was monitoring all trying to print simultaneously; it wasn't pretty. But I hung with it. And, as I mentioned before, the beat goes on. Also latched onto a 17-volume set of wildlife encyclopedias the library at the school was tossing out. Seemed like a bonus to me, I nabbed those babies. Also wondering if learning some Arabic wouldn't be a good thing, at least for working in Dearborn. (if you don't know about Dearborn, Michigan, aside from being the headquarters of Ford Motor Company, it also boasts the highest Arabic population, per-capita, outside the Middle East.)
Beyond that, I have a suggestion; savor the small pleasure of frozen Thin-Mint Girl Scout cookies. They are Heaven. Better yet, take your pleasures as they come. I don't really know where that came from, but it seemed like the thing to say at the time.
