Okay, this one goes in the category of "arty close-up," but it's nice
The Alexander Calder "Art Car" 3.0 CSL--okay, not a 2002, but pretty.
A rare (so far as I can find, anyway,) action shot
The 2002 Turbo and 3.0 CS giant-killer
Ooooooooooooooooh, pretty......
2002 Cabrios--don't see them much.

Alpina-modified 2002 Tii
A rare 2002 Tii touring.
The "new age spin" on a classic.
The 2002 flying the racing flag.

Okay, I think I recall Martha asking me if I'd wear jewelry other than my wedding ring, and she recalls me saying no, which was probably true. Little did I know. My older brother, who quite frankly I've been reluctant to make any plans with lately because the last such instance was a total cluster-f*ck, shocked the bejeezus out of me today with my (okay, belated,) Christmas gift. Honestly, I could not imagine a piece of jewelry I'd be all that excited about wearing--until I saw this. I won't keep you in suspense any more, it's a sterling silver ring patterned after a unidirectional high performance tire. No kidding. An absolutely perfect, gorgeous piece of car-guy jewelry, one he said he saw the ad for in a Car & Driver magazine, or something. I absolutely love it. And, of course, Martha was obviously complicit in filling him in on my ring size; it fits better than my wedding ring does, but it will still remain on the right hand.

Okay, Joe and Linda, I'm sorry for having been such a cranky, uncompliant bast*rd lately, but you know how it's been; you've seen dad. And, yes, we will get together, ASAP. It's the least I can do in response to the perfect gift. Which also, of course, begs the question, how on earth am I ever gonna come near showing the appropriate gratitude for something so awesome?! You might be waiting a while for the response, guys, but at some point, believe me, I'll hit it with my best shot. Meantime, Joe, the only car I ever remember you professing any real passion for was the BMW 2002 Tii; well, the above is the best gallery I could pull together on short notice, and the best way I know to say thank you. So, thank you, Joe, Linda and Martha, from the bottom of my 5w-30-stained heart. Other than saying that, I can't imagine what my clients and students are going to say. And a lot of them being car guys too, I'm gonna hafta figure out where this came from just so I can tell everyone else who's gonna ask about it now. So I'm not entirely jaded, it is in fact possible to completely blow me away--but, boy, it takes some doin.....
