It's been my habit here to share notable images as I come across them. I'm not exactly sure what my fascination with Marilyn Monroe is about, except to say that I kinda latch on to the quote of hers about the manner in which she wished to be remembered, and she said, "don't make me a joke." Unfortunately, Hollywood and everyone else seems to have done exactly that. As for the one at the top, that's yours truly, in what would be my first car. It's Martha's new favorite image of me, and the one, of all the ones from my childhood, even to her mind, that seems the most joyous. There's more pictures from my childhood where I'm not smiling than where I am. Below that is something of an automotive oddity, a BMW Isetta convertible from the mid-50s. The rag-top version of these little one-cylinder "bubble cars" is.....hmmmm, sorta like a Yugo convertible with style. Second from above is Marilyn, yet again, primarily, I suppose, for the benefit of my daughters. Just the mute notion that beauty and intellect are not mutually exclusive. Just above that? There was a period in automotive history where crystal hood ornaments were just "it," if you happened to be fabulous enough to be able to afford the car they came with. This is just a really nice shot. And to answer the question everyone will undoubtedly ask about the picture directly above, if the way it was presented on the web was correct, the car is a Chrysler 300. For whatever reason, I just like the shot.
