Okay, given past circumstances, the Red Wings winning the Stanley Cup should not come as a great surprise. What's really heartening about this particular win, is that it couldn't come at a better time for a town that is presently so economically and sociologically punch-drunk. As a city, we've been beaten up so badly by the recent "economic downturn," as all the pundits choose to put it, (more like the rising up of Hell, to me,) that most of the populace probably figures they would be better off if Zetterberg, Chelios, and the rest of the Wings got ahold of them in a dark alley. We need a few good heroes around.
