Count on the fact that I'd probably be the last person in the universe to say this, if you think about it, but in light of the Minnesota bridge disaster, and the state of America's infrastructure, generally, it's starting to seem like a really BAD idea to simply consider what's POSSIBLE, and try to attempt it. Call me a heretic, but there it is. If 9/11 wasn't enough to raise our collective level of awareness as to the value of human life, surely something has to. I believe as much as anyone else that America was built on a pioneering spirit, and certainly there have always been risks involved, and sacrifices to be made. That should definitively NOT include going to a baseball game. That's just plain sloppy thinking, which, if you haven't learned by now, I've NEVER been a big fan of. How much is it going to take before we DO value human life to the extent that we take care of ourselves and the people we love?! IS something like this really going to make a difference in the way we view things? Theoretically, it should. Hell, 9/11 should have been the permanent wake-up call to everyone everywhere that keeping ourselves safe should be a priority. Apparently, the effect of such things wears off after a while. Think a bit about what's really right once in a while.
